Snowy Wednesday for Wyoming County

Snowy Wednesday for Wyoming County - Wednesday, December 31, 2008 at 4:16PM EST

MONROE TWP., MONROE COUNTY- The snow came quickly and made its mark Wednesday morning. Some counties, like Wyoming, took on 2, even 3 inches.

You could barely see across Route 29 in Monroe Township, Wyoming County. The sun was trying to peek through the clouds, but all morning, the snow came down.

Dave Belcher was plowing this way for drivers with his PennDOT truck. Belcher said, "They're slick, they're covered. It's coming down fast. Just try to keep up with it. There's material on the roads if they take their time."

Taking his time is what Ken Thomas of Noxen says he'll do. Thomas said, "Not bad. Once they plow it will clean right off."

Thomas pulled out of Bowmans Creek Service Center, where you could see people shielding their eyes from the swift snow. This wintry mix was slowing traffic on most of Route 29.

The traffic was moving slow but steady in Tunkhannock, but it wasn’t just the snow, it's was the wind blowing the snow across the highway that's made it tough for drivers.

But there's at least one person who welcomes this weather. Doug Gay of Gay’s True Value Hardware says, "We like snow blowers, we like to sell them you know? So we want it to stick around for a while," says Gay.
