PORT TREVORTON, SNYDER COUNTY- A firefighter was injured and two calves were killed during a fire Thursday afternoon at a large
Snyder
County farm. The fire began around 3 p. m. and destroyed a tool shed, a combine and a calf barn on Produce Road. . The farm house, located about 150 feet from the fire scene, was not affected by the fire. It consumed the shed and barn within an hour, and the black smoke could be seen as far away as the Susquehanna Valley Mall in
Hummels
Wharf , six miles north.
An unidentified Freeburg firefighter was overcome by heat and taken to an area hospital for observation, but he was conscious and did not require a stretcher. Emergency personnel at the scene would not say where the firefighter was taken. | |
