AVOCA, LUZERNE COUNTY- One family’s soldier son is home just in time to spend the holidays with his family and friends.

2nd Lieutenant Leroy Spencer was welcomed home by his wife and loved ones Sunday afternoon at the Wilkes-Barre / Scranton International Airport. Spencer, who is training right now in Georgia, has been away from home for four months.

He will be on leave for 11 days and says he will spend the time with loved ones. “It’s wonderful. I've been looking forward ever since I left. I was looking forward to when I could come back and see my home."

Spencer’s wife Jacquelyn said, “Oh, my heart was pounding. I couldn't wait. I was so excited. I couldn't wait to see him."

Spencer says he has to report back to training by January 2nd.
