SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Family and friends of a Scranton soldier, who died last week overseas, spent the day honoring their loved one.

A viewing for specialist Jonathon Luscher took place Monday afternoon at Scranton High School. The 20-year-old died last Sunday from non-combat wounds in Afghanistan.

Luscher was remembered as a good soldier and friend who liked computers and video games. Pictures of luscher filled the auditorium of the high school this afternoon as friends said a final goodbye.

Luscher’s cousin Michelle Lewis said, “It’s just really sad, knowing that he went into the service to help pay for his education and his love of computers and he's not going to get to do that."

Cousin Jennifer Kingsley added, “I remember him as little Jonathon, always a great spirit, a great heart. He was a great kid.1"

Specialist Jonathon Luscher has been awarded the Pennsylvania Meritorious Service Medal for his sacrifice. He will be laid to rest with full military honors Tuesday morning.
