SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Sources tell WYOU News the Southern Union Building on Lackawanna Avenue in Scranton is being sold to "a prominent local developer."

There was no word on the purchase price of how the building might be used.

Construction on the $16 million building began in 2003 and was completed in 2005. The building was to become Corporate Headquarters for Southern Union and the initial plans were to locate up to 100 corporate level jobs in the facility.

Those plans changed shortly after Scranton native Thomas Karam resigned as Southern Union's CEO and the company bought Cross Country Energy's national pipeline system for a reported $2.4 billion.

The building in Scranton has been generally unused, except for a few employees, since construction was completed.
