SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY

Special Education students from schools throughout Lackawanna County participated in a 'Sports Challenge" at Riverfront Sports Complex in Scranton on Friday

The sports competition was the idea of three Special Ed students from Victory Village, a community based Vocational School operated by Northeast Intermediate Unit 19.
Vicky Rogers from Carbondale Area High School, and Jason Rutkowski, and Laurie Hilbert from Lakeland High School came up with the "Sports Challenge" idea as their 'Senior Project."

Instead of charging admission the students asked those participating or watching to bring food items which will be distributed to an area food bank.

Miss Hilbert said "It's an idea to help the people who are in need."
