TOWANDA, BRADFORD COUNTY - After several hours of deliberations on Wednesday, jurors returned a split verdict in the murder trial of Josphine Parkhurst.

Jurors convicted of Parkhurst of simple and aggravated assault in the death of her mother last year, but found her not guilty of involuntary manslaughter. Parkhurst was accused of beating her mother Rose after the two got into an argument last summer.

After a three-day trial, jurors were able to reach their verdict. Parkhurst took the stand Tuesday afternoon, saying the entire incident was an accident and she never meant to kill her mother.
