FORTY FORT, LUZERNE COUNTY- A violent stabbing in a quiet Luzerne County neighborhood. That's what happened Wednesday morning on River Street in Forty Fort. Lori Barney was arraigned on felony assault charges. Police say she stabbed Matthew Howell W ednesday morning at their Forty Fort house. Neighbors like Andy Trivus couldn't believe it. "I thought my friend was kidding because it's April fool's day," said Trivus.

Police say Barney stabbed Howell with a knife in a domestic dispute. Howell was bleeding heavily when police arrived. Other than traffic on River Street in Forty Fort neighbors say the area where the stabbing happened is a quiet neighborhood . "Actually I wouldn't expect that here," says Alex Serrano. He says the neighborhood is nearly crime free. But Howell's stabbing drew plenty of attention. He was listed in serious condition Wednesday afternoon. But seeing his neighbor Barney in handcuffs doesn't bother Trivus.

"Well domestic disputes you can't really say what happened, you know. I mean seriously, what goes on between a guy and a lady when they're having an argument, so I have no fears," said Trivus. Barney is now jailed on 200-thousand dollars bail at Luzerne County prison .
