UNION TOWNSHIP , LUZERNE COUNTY- December 12th is the deadline for a teachers strike in the Northwest Area School District . That's the word today from the State Department of Education. Teachers hit the picket line in Luzerne County Tuesday. They've been working without a contract since 2005. The state says teachers must return to work on December 12th to make sure they complete the required 180 days in the classroom by June 15th. | | |
