MOCANAQUA, LUZERNE COUNTY - State Police had a park in Mocanaqua surrounded for hours Friday afternoon.

Troopers would not comment on the situation that brought them to Saint Mary's Park. Calls to the state police barracks in Shickshinny also did not yield any results.

Investigators kept Eyewitness News far back from the scene. Neighbors say the events started to play out around 2:00 PM.

A park caretaker, John Novelli, told Eyewitness News he went to check on the park and police were already there. He says there was a flurry of activity.

Novelli said some of the officers had their guns out and they were concentrating their efforts on a car that was located behind an existing building at the park.

"When I seen the car in the back, over there, I thought it was a hunter but then I saw the cops. They had their guns and I thought it must be something else than a hunter," Novelli said.

Eyewitness News will have the latest on this developing story on Eyewitness News at 11:00.
