HUNLOCK CREEK, LUZERNE COUNTY- The landmark had withstood the test of time. Now it’s just a twisted pile of metal. It is the marquee at the well-known Garden Drive-In on Route 11 near Plymouth. Dave Hudzik manages the drive-in. He couldn’t believe it.

"When I pulled in I saw the original marquee was blown over. It might not seem like a big deal but it’s been here since 1952. It’s basically a trademark of the drive-in. It was in beautiful condition. All the neon worked, it was operational, it was here so long. It’s a shame to see it go," he said.

For 56 years the marquee greeted people on Route 11. It was always there, the day after any storm. "It must have really been unbelievable wind. It went through blizzards, everything, in the past 50 years. And to have it blown over just like that is mind boggling," said Hudzik.

The plastic letters from the marquee are scattered all over the parking lot.

The rest of the drive-in was pretty much untouched so the garden drive-in will be open this weekend. Dave said he may try to repair the marquee. He says finding parts could be difficult but he will try.
