MAYFIELD, LACKAWANNA COUNTY

Ed Rossi was still waiting for an insurance adjuster to check his cars Wednesday afternoon. The strong winds that roared through Mayfield Borough on Tuesday night took down a huge tree that just missed his house but fell on both of his vehicles.

The storm also brought down a tree on the roof of a house next door to Rossi's home. It had been damaged by a recent fire and was unoccupied.

Trees also were blown over in the Mayfield cemetery. Branches fell on headstones there.

The back upstairs porch on another building was also damaged in the storm. A railing was knocked over and several supports for the proch were leaning after the storm.

Jeannette Molinaro says her home was not damaged by the storm. But she says her bed actually shook when the strongest gusts were blowing through the town. Ms. Molinaro said "It was like a freight train was hitting the house!"
