EAST STROUDSBURG - We're marching closer to St. Patrick's Day and the celebrations that go with it. The organizers of Stroudsburg's parade announced their Grand Marshals Tuesday morning.

John and Rachael Moyer will march forward with a mission to do good by marching in the parade. They will serve as Grand Marshalls for Stroudsburg's Saint Patrick's Day Parade next month.

"We thought that Gregory would think that this was fantastic," said Rachael. Gregory is the Moyer's son. He died of sudden cardiac arrest during a high school basketball game in 2000. Greg was 15.

"We thought we were good people and it happened to us so it certainly can happen to you," said John.

After their tragedy, the family went on a mission to prevent anyone else from feeling the same pain. They've taught thousands of people CPR and fought to put automatic external defibrillators in hundreds of homes, schools, and public places.

In the past year alone, three of those people have used AEDs to save lives. "I feel very humbled by it and very fortunate," said Rachael.

The Pocono Irish American Club chose to honor the Moyers and their mission by letting them lead the parade just as they have lead community change with their son's story. "He'd be very honored by the fact that so many people have heard his story, know who he was," said John.

Stroudsburg's St. Patrick's Day Parade is scheduled for March 22nd.
