South Williamsport, Lycoming County-
A group of 8th graders in South Williamsport did some work with NASA Friday morning.
Students in Mr. Cramer’s 8th grade class took part in the interactive video conference.
It’s a simulation of events that took place on board the International Space Station during an actual solar storm in 2001.
Students analyzed real-time data on things like radiation and oxygen levels aboard the space station.
Then they made decisions on how to ensure the safety of the crew, with guidance from a NASA flight director.
The video conference was made possible through a grant from the South Williamsport Area School District Foundation Board.
