ROARING BROOK TOWNSHIP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- Four elementary school-aged girls were taken to the hospital after an accident here involving a school bus and SUV.

Police say 46 students from the North Pocono School District were on bus No. 34 at the time of the crash. They say a man driving an SUV rear-ended the school bus as it was stopping to pick up a student along route 435 here.

The little girl who was getting on the bus as it was rear-eneded was thrown around a bit, but police say her injuries aren't serious. The same goes for three other girls who were taken to area hospitals as a precaution. Authorities say they are all between the ages of five and ten.

The students on the bus attend North Pocono Intermediate School. At least one district principal was on the scene of the crash making sure the students were okay.

The local police chief says getting called to a schoo bus crash is always a bit unnerving.

"The moment you hear that, we're all parents, we're all concerned, and we automatically think the worst," said Roaring Brook Township Police Chief Kipp Adcock. "But then you get on scene, and you see the kids are as normal as ever, and it relieves those tensions a bit."
