STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY - When Amanda Kulp saw a TV show about the homeless, she felt she could make a change. She said, "They needed help."

For her high school senior project, Kulp raised money for Pocono Area Transitional Housing (PATH). She said, "I wanted to raise money for them because they don't have like any money."

PATH helps homeless families get back on their feet. Sharon Taylor is the organization's Executive Director. She said, "The need for our program is greater than ever."

Amy Rodriguez was once homeless. She told Eyewitness News she left an abusive husband when he threatened one of her three children. She said, "It's a scary situation to be in."

She stayed with a friend for a while then discovered PATH. She said, "I really don't know what would have happened had we not gotten into PATH."

While Amy lived in the PATH house she learned how to manage a household as well as how to save and budget money. She said, "It was an awesome, an awesome experience."

Now Any has a job and a home of her own. She said, "It was just an all around - a great experience."

Amanda's class project will help people like Amy. To raise money for the PATH House Amanda sold paper shoes. You could by a dollar, two dollar, or five dollar shoe. She and her classmates raised about $1,700.

PATH leaders said the money will help a lot. The organization currently has a waiting list of about fifty families waiting for housing.
