STROUDSBURG, MONROE COUNTY - Subway spokesperson Jared Fogle visited Stroudsburg Junior High Friday. Kids ate up their encounter with Fogle and his famous jeans. Then they ate up a healthy lunch. Freshman Kierstin Pepper said, "We've been waiting for like weeks to see Jared."

Jared told the kids about how he ended up in jeans with a 60 inch waist band. He said it started with bad eating habits in elementary school. He continued, "By middle school, Jr. High my weight was out of control, by high school it was just through the roof."

Jared told the students how he took control of his weight, and his health with his famous Subway diet. Student Jonpaun Sanchez said, "To hear his entire story and to see him personally it's just amazing. I can't believe it."

Jared wanted the kids to know it's important to have a healthy body and a healthy community. He said, "I think it's really important for all these kids to realize what the power of one person can really do."

He supported the school's effort to raise money for the homeless. Students collected about $1,700 for Pocono Area Transitional Housing (PATH). PATH Executive Director Sharon Taylor said, "They're learning the importance of giving and being part of their community and reaching out and improving not only their lives but the lives of others."
