THROOP, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- Two fire departments in Lackawanna County marked Super Bowl Sunday with annual traditions.

Eyewitness News stopped by Throop Hose Company #1 for their Super Bowl chicken barbeque. The department says it's one of their biggest fundraisers of the year -- which helps buy equipment and other necessities.

The firefighters are grateful for the community support. Julie Barone said, "We just want to thank the community for their support as always. We definitely appreciate it. And put to good use."

Throop Hose Company #1 sold 750-tickets for Sunday's fundraiser.

And just across town -- another fire department in Throop was holding one of its biggest fundraisers -- but this event is all about wings.

Throop Hose Company #3 held its fourth annual Wingfest Sunday afternoon. The department uses the money raised to maintain fire trucks and equipment.

A lot of people turned-out for the wings. Chief Nicholas Ganz said, "Busy. Non-stop all day. Every year it keeps getting busier."

Chief Ganz says they sold out of wings. They went through 22 cases -- which comes out to about 840 pounds.
