EXETER, LUZERNE COUNTY- Police say the shooting of a 16-year-old teenager on Wednesday night was an accident. Investigators charged John Krantz, 25, with a firearms count. A judge set bail at $20,000.

Police said Krantz had a .22 caliber handgun in his waistband when it slipped down his pants. Arrest papers show Krantz grabbed the gun causing it to fire. The 16-year-old victim was hit in the upper chest. Identified as Matthew Abline, police said he had emergency surgery and it expected to be okay.

Krantz was in possession of gun that had its identification number shaved off.

He'll return to court next week.
