SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- A man accused of two high speed police chases is locked up in Lackawanna County.

37-year-old Derek Banks was jailed after the latest one -- a wild hour-long pursuit Friday night through Scranton's West Side.

It all began in the 1700 block of Washburn Street. State police were staking out Banks' car for hours when he finally took the wheel.

A state trooper moved in and drew his gun but Banks backed into the police cruiser and sped off. The trooper fired at the car but Banks got away.

Scranton officers finally caught banks on Farr Street after he ditched the car. Banks is also accused of Wednesday night's chase through the Mid Valley.

He's jailed on $60,000 bail.
