EXETER TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY- State Police slowly dismantled the components of a suspected methamphetamine lab Tuesday evening. It's believed to have been abandoned.

Police made the apparent discovery mid-Tuesday afternoon at a mobile home in the Riverview Village.

A spokesman with the Luzerne County Emergency Management Agency said materials, including beakers and test tubes, were found in a small outside storage compartment along the Susquehanna River.

Neighbors said no one has lived in the mobile home for months, at least since October. "To find this and it's actually active! And do this? I mean come on," Kim Reiners said.

Reiners has lived in her home at the park for 10 years. While she says the area has its share of problems, she's mad considering she, her children and dog have walked near the area where the alleged lab was discovered. "We seen it months ago and we thought nothing of it. We laughed about it."

For a time, officials with the Harding Fire Department threatened to arrest several members of the media, including WBRE News. Our cameras were kept back a distance and we were warned to stay off a public road. Neighbors are, too, criticizing the investigation. "They didn't say nothing up here. They told me nothing. 'Stay in your house,' what does that tell you? Give me a break," Reiners said. And while the media was threatened to keep clear, children were seen playing in the mobile home neighborhood, only 100 or so yards away from the area where the apparent lab was found.

State police are now determining what the chemicals are.

There's no word on who owned the home where they were found.
