A suspected arsonist was nabbed in Swoyersville.
Adam Dewolfe was formally charged this morning.
Police say he set a neighbors car on fire.
In handcuffs and a jumpsuit, Dewolfe was led in to his arraignment at the Swoyersville municipal building.
Police say he set a car on fire, here on Hughes Street in Swoyersville on July 2nd.
Vickie Delhagen saw it happen.
She said, "It was unbelievable, it really was. The car just set fire. Someone told us and we just automatically knew it was him."
Police say Dewolfe set a Hyundai Accent on fire after an argument with a neighbor.
The car belonged to the neighbor’s grandmother.
The flames were put out, and no one was hurt.
Nearly two weeks later, Dewolfe was charged with arson.
He was already in the Luzerne County jail on unrelated charges.
At Tuesday morning's arraignment, he told the judge he has a drinking problem, and needs help.
Swoyersville police are pleased with how fast the investigation moved.
Swoyersville Police Chief Tom Dimaria says "We take them as very serious matters and we're happy that we can close this case so quickly."
Now Dewolfe is back in the Luzerne County jail, waiting for his preliminary hearing.
Dewolfe's bail was set at 25 thousand dollars cash.
His preliminary hearing is set for July 30 th . | |
