TANNERSVILLE, MONROE COUNTY - A group at Camelback Mountain Resort wore ski gear and surf wear on the slopes Friday.

Jessica Kaminsky and two of her friends dressed in ski bottoms and bikini tops. Kaminsky laughed, "We just like to have fun."

The trio from New York said this is a warm day tradition. Catherine Obidienzo said, "You don't have to look like a snow man like wearing all the jackets and sweaters to try to stay warm." Stephanie Guzman added,"I like the like - how it's like cold like it's supposed to be cold but it's really hot. Like if you fall it's cold but if you're skiing it's hot."

They said it's fun to wear clothes you would normally wear on the sand on the slopes. That is unless you lose your balance and fall into the cold snow.

The girls said they had the day off from school. Others on the slopes said they played a little hooky. Joe Paul of Hawley remarked,"Snowboarding is a lot better than school"

But some insisted they were still learning. Tristan Orr of Hawley said,"I can learn a couple new tricks out here today."

Camelback managers have learned they can extend their season into the first weeks of spring. Brian Bossuyt Camelback's Director of Guests Relations said,"It's a great time for beginners to come out an learn."

Camelback's spring skiing business will wrap up in the first week up April - and then it will focus it's attention on it's summer business Camelbeach water park.

But ski and snow board enthusiasts say they want to enjoy every last drop of winter before they really need their swim suits. Rob Orr of Hawley said,"It's nice to get some skiing in before the end of the season."
