Swine Flu Confirmed In Luzerne County - Friday, May 8, 2009 at 10:55PM EST

WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- State Health officials confirmed Friday a student at Holy Redeemer High School tested positive for Swine Flu. Staffers said the student has responded well to treatment and is believed to be back in school. A message appearing on the Catholic school's website Monday night indicated the infected student was not in class when symptoms appeared and reportedly did not return until the symptoms had subsided.
On Friday afternoon, students outside the school said they were surprised at the reaction the case had commanded.

School leaders defended decisions to keep the school open while state health investigators conducted testing.
