Taking the Polar Plunge in Albrightsville

Taking the Polar Plunge in Albrightsville - Sunday, February 15, 2009 at 6:45PM EST

ALBRIGHTSVILLE, CARBON COUNTY- Dozens of people took the polar bear plunge at Henning's Pond in Albrightsville. People dressed-up in all sorts of costumes to braze the freezing water and blowing winds. This was the 8th year for the event. All of the money raised will go to charity.
Jeffrey Juszynski of Marshalls Creek said, “I'm nuts. That's what people tell me. You've got to be."

Polar Bear Plunger Rochelle Rice said, “Instead of saying why do you do this... I don't want to look back when I'm 70 and say, why didn't I do that..."

One of the many people who took the plunge Sunday was our Consumer Reporter, Jeff Chirico. He says it was cold like you've never felt before, but described it as invigorating.

LAKEVILLE, WAYNE COUNTY- And if you think ice is nice, you'll want to head to Wayne County this month. That's because an amazing ice festival is underway in Lakeville.

You can walk through a life-sized ice cabin, ride a 50-foot ice slide or check out live carving demonstrations.

Admission is $10. It’s located at sculpted ice works near Lake Wallenpaupack. The festival runs through March 1st.
