LUZERNE COUNTY - Post offices across the country will be packed today as people rush to get their taxes in on time.

April 15 is the deadline to mail taxes into the IRS.

The forms must be in by midnight.

Taxpayers who need extra time can file for an automatic extension by minnight as well.

The extensions give filers until Oct 15 to complete their tax returns.

Thursday morning some people in Wilkes-Barre made an early stop at the post office.

"I was actually filing the federal tax return online and there was like a thirty dollar charge to file the state thing. And I don't know...I just waited to the last minute to actually send it in," said Brian Fisne from Wilkes-Barre.

Bob Ivanitch from Larksville blamed his daughter for his trip to the post office.
"I'm doing it for my daughter. Yes, she waits to the latest minute every year just about. So thats what I have to do for her."
