BLAKELY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- A community in Lackawanna County is mourning the loss of a well-known police officer.
Members of the Taylor Police Department say one their K-9 officers named "Boss" passed away over the weekend. Boss lived in Blakely but served Taylor Borough for nine years. He also worked two years in Dunmore.
Boss helped make hundreds of arrests and was even a search dog at Ground Zero after September 11th. Taylor Police Patrolman Tony Machelli said, Boss was a big part of the community. He got involved in a lot of DARE programs, school programs. We try to do a lot, plus all of his felony arrests."
The Borough of Taylor still has one K-9 officer patrolling the streets. | | |
