HANOVER TOWNSHIP, LUZERNE COUNTY- Detectives are investigating a threat made to Hanover Area High School students.
They say the students were the target of an angry 14-year-old male student.
Police told eyewitness news that the student wrote that he would shoot classmates at the high school on the social website Facebook.
That threat then was spread by text messages to dozens of other students.
Hanover Township police moved very quickly to track the source of the internet threat.
They got a search warrant for the student's home, and the razed the home early Friday morning.
Hanover Township Police Chief Al Walker said, "As a result of that search warrant we were able to confiscate several firearms as well as computer related equipment. We also took into custody the 14-year-old male."
The superintendent of schools said they have a zero tolerance policy.
He warned others about making any threat against anyone in the district.
Hanover Area Superintendent Anthony Podczasy said, "Any type of threat of any kind to our students we take very seriously. It's not a joke or laughing matter. Anything like that we will call police and follow it through to the end." | |
