BEAVER TOWNSHIP, COLUMBIA COUNTY -

A Hazleton Area High School student died in a crash Monday night. Five others in the care, all 16-years-old, were injured in the accident.

The collision occurred just before 7 o'clock in Beaver Twp. Columbia Co.

Sixteen-year-old Steven Geraci was pronounced dead at the scene.

Joseph Puglio was driving the car when it left Scotch Valley Rd. and collided with a cinder block garage.

John Bethel, who lives near the accident scene, heard the whole thing.

“Last night I heard the fire engines and ambulances and sirens, and helicopters overhead. It seemed like there was some kind of an accident."

Tiffany Bellitts of Tresckow, Paul Penkala and Erhan Isliam of Hazleton , and Steven Scatton of West Hazleton were all injured.

Cameron Benza, who drove past the accident scene, driving conditions last night were dangerous, "It was foggy, very foggy. I actually got behind an ambulance coming home. It was like so bad, I was doing like 15, in some spots we hit 35. And it was like mist in the air still."

The property owner said the garage will likely collapse when the car is removed.

Grief counselors are at Hazleton Area High School all day. The school district says two of the students are still in critical condition.

No word on the cause of this deadly crash.
