HUNTINGTON TWP., LUZERNE COUNTY -- A teen was shot this weekend while setting traps in the woods. It happened along Town Hill Road in Huntington Township in Luzerne County on Saturday afternoon.
According to the Pennsylvania Game Commission, the 14-year old boy and his father were setting traps for small game.
A 44-year old hunter misidentified the teen as a turkey and shot him. The hunter left the woods after the boy yelled for help.
Daniel Figured of the Game Commission said, "Whoever the hunter is, it's his responsibility to assist the injured. However in this case, he did not, and that actually makes it more of a serious offense."
The boy was flown to an area hospital where he is in stable condition. The shooting is still under investigation. | |
