KINGSTON, LUZERNE COUNTY- A Luzerne County teen will stand trial on charges that he was drunk and speeding when he crashed his car in January.
20-year-old Hai Vu was in central court Wednesday. Investigators say his blood alcohol content was four times the legal limit when he smashed his car on Market Street in Kingston in January.
His 17-year-old passenger Jennifer Suong was badly injured. She is now blind and confined to a wheelchair. Assistant Luzerne County District Attorney Mike Vough said, “This case is more than negligence. It’s someone getting into a car driving and drinking, not 21, driving very, very erratically and recklessly. It’s a combination of alcohol, vehicle and speed."
Hai Vu pleaded not guilty. He will stand trial later this year.
