0/ 5 rating SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY -- A teenager is in the hospital after falling from a Lackawanna County gorge. Emergency responders pulled off a difficult rope rescue to reach the victim.
Rescuers responded around 5:00 P. M. after an 18-year-old woman tumbled roughly 50 feet onto rocks at Roaring Brook Gorge. It's just behind the tennis courts at the University of Scranton.
Police say the victim was swimming with friends in the no trespassing area. The group got out of the water to leave.
The young woman grabbed a tree branch that broke -- sending her down onto the rocks. She suffered multiple traumatic injuries.
It took rescuers about an hour to get her onto a crash truck and take her to Scranton CMC. There's no word on her name or condition. | |
