Old Lycoming Township, Lycoming County-
Some teenagers in Lycoming County got a valuable lesson in responsible driving Thursday at Lycoming Valley Middle School.
Williamsport Police Officer Jason Bolt presented “Survival 101,” a PennDOT-sponsored driver safety program.
Bolt demonstrated the extreme importance of wearing seatbelts to about 300 seventh and eighth graders.
The course features videos and slides from real-life accident scenes.
Bolt explained, “We want to make sure that it’s set in their minds early that they’re supposed to get into a good habit of wearing their seatbelts every time they get behind the wheel.”
Statistics show teenagers tend to be the most aggressive drivers. Unfortunately, they also rank among the highest in fatality rates.
