Williamsport, Lycoming County-
Teens in one part of Lycoming County got a wake-up call on the dangers of texting while driving Tuesday morning.
Officer Jason Bolt presented several videos to students at Williamsport High School. The videos emphasized the tragedies that can result from inattentive driving-including texting and talking on cell phones.
According to PennDOT, traffic crashes are the leading cause of death for 16 to 19 year olds.
Bolt explained, "The dangers are real simple. Once you take your eyes off the road and focus on something in front of you, it narrows your focus, it changes your viewing perspective, and it basically hampers your ability to safely drive."
Tuesday's presentation was part of National Teen Driver Safety Week. | |
