(LEHMAN TOWNSHIP, Pike County) - A hostile scene at a private community in Pike County Saturday as a meeting ended abruptly when WBRE News arrived to cover the event. That wasn't the end of the story in Lehman Township, over the future of 17 staffers in the gated community. Carol Greene is a resident, "My concern as a resident is security" Residents of the Pine Ridge private community say they're furious they're not getting the security they paid for. Greene added, “I'm afraid we'll wind up with security that is less than what we have now and we have a good group except for the fact they walked off the job and it's not responsible." Earlier this week several staffers failed to report to work. Reporter Jill Konopka asks, “Are you a volunteer or are you paid?” Man responds, “I'm helping community, I'm a volunteer." Tom Dunn is the past Pine Ridge Board President, "In my opinion, that puts us in a liability situation." So, the Pine Ridge Board of Directors called an emergency meeting Saturday with residents After a struggle at the front gate, the Gate Keeper told Reporter Jill Konopka, "Either step behind the gate or I’ll call police." WBRE News finally made it to the meeting. “This is a private community and we have the right to have privacy.” WBRE News quickly learned most wanted it to stay private. “Walk out, hello, buy, bye")) The meeting was adjourned as soon as our crew arrived. “We really don't need the news cameras here." And tempers started to flare. “Because it's no one's business what happens in a private community." Board members say those who walked off the job were officially fired Saturday. Kathleen Farrelly is on the Board of Directors, "17 I think they said the entire security staff, community staff and administrative staff. I probably shouldn't remark on that, don't jeopardize. Resident interjects, “If you’re going to talk tell truth because they walked off the job.” But there's still unanswered questions. A Reporter from the Pocono Record asks Tom Dunn, "Who's running security?” Tom Dunn replied, “We have no idea couldn't get an answer from the board of directors." Other residents say they're not sorry to see the staffers go. Noel Nichols has lived here for nearly a decade, "It’s the security companies that come here that don't respect people that live here and pay wages. They come here and they want to bully you and walk around like John Wayne and pull their guns out." Board member Kathleen Farrelly also told WBRE news she's sorry for what happened and wishes both sides could've came to a compromise. Past Pine Ridge board president Tom Dunn says the board must now go back to square one, and figure out how to implement new security.
