As with most holidays, Thanksgiving brings out the last minute shoppers in force. In this case, it's for groceries for the big meal.

It's just about 24 hours before most folks around here will be digging into Thanksgiving Dinner. And the aisles at Wegman's in Williamsport are packed with people picking up the essentials for a fantastic feast.

Amy Wagner, of Williamsport, said, "Well I like Wegman's, they have all the products I like. I'm just buying the regular- pies, turkey, things like that."

Angel Day, of Muncy, added, "We did buy a ham, because we wanted to be a little different this year, but basically, just your usual- turkey, cranberry sauce."

And these last minute shoppers tell us there are still plenty of good deals to be found for those trying to shave a few pennies off the holiday meal budget.

Day explained, "The Wegman's card, coupons, just looking for the specials, the deals. Wegman's has a lot."

Wegman’s Manager Nancy Scott noted, "We wanted to lower those prices so that customers could take advantage of that through the holiday season, to help our customers and our employees make it through the holidays."

But for many, the spirit of the holiday is far more important than the price.

Wagner said, "I just like having my family with me. My sister's in Maryland so I miss her."

Day added, "We're splurging on some things and looking for the bargains for some things. But you know it's the holiday, so I think we lean more toward, 'Let's splurge and have some fun.'"

And for those shoppers who truly like to wait until the last possible minute, Wegman's stores will remain open overnight and right through 5pm Thanksgiving Day.
