WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell made a stop in our area Wednesday afternoon.
Rendell was the guest speaker for the 36th annual meeting of the Maternal and Family Health Services. The meeting, which was held at the Ramada Inn in Wilkes-Barre, celebrated the impact of non-profit organizations in our communities.
Governor Rendell explained “This is a great organization. They do work in family planning. We've been able to obtain federal funding for this group to do family planning to make sure pregnant women get the prenatal care and also so they know how to protect themselves."
During Wednesday's meeting Governor Rendell received the outstanding public service award for improving healthcare.
