SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Businesses big and small are trying to get their name on national television in the hit TV show "The Office." It's part of a “prop drop” sponsored by the Greater Scranton Chamber of Commerce.
It happened Tuesday. They brought in signs, like these from Old Forge Bank. Privately owned businesses are hoping to get their logos on the show. Todd Hammel owns the blue shudders restaurant in Elmhurst. "When I was fixing the restaurant up last year they came by and wanted to put it in the show and I wasn't there. I missed it so I thought maybe this time. Maybe," he told Eyewitness News.
Hammel is hoping this time his business will be featured on the show. Authenticity is something the Chamber says “Office” producers strive for. Chamber spokesperson Liz Rightor said, "It's become a huge part of the city of Scranton. The writers and producers of the show pride themselves on authenticity and using local businesses. That's why we're here today doing the prop drops."
This is the “prop drop's” second year. Last year, donated items made the "Job Fair" episode. Once all things are gathered for this drive, they'll be wrapped up and shipped to California. That's where the show is taped.
But hopefully, with this “prop drop,” business owners can send a piece of the Electric City for all to see. | |
