Theaters will become a church
Theaters will become a church - Tuesday, December 2, 2008 at 11:50AM EST
DICKSON CITY, LACKAWANNA COUNTY
A growing area church will soon be taking over a building that currently houses a movie theater complex.
Parker Hill Community Church, with campuses in Clarks Summit, and Glenburn, has made arrangements to move its temporary facilities in Dickson City into what is now the Endless Mountain Theaters. The Church has a 'lease to buy agreement' with the building's owners.
Parker Hill's Campus Connections coordinator, Pastor Mark Fitch, says the temporary Dickson City facility currently serves about 1,000 people each week. The church also offers services and activities for children and teens.
Fitch says Parker Hill Church will be investing some two million dollars in renovations to convert the building. They expect to be holding services there by the fall of next year.
There's no word on exactly when the movie theaters will close. But they are expected to continue showings through the Christmas Holiday period. | |
