Thousands Line Procession Route

Thousands Line Procession Route - Friday, June 12, 2009 at 11:20PM EST

There were large crowds today at the services and the burial. But thousands also lined the route to the cemetery. The funeral procession went from Pittston to Laceyville.

Hundreds gathered near the Fort Jenkins Bridge. People who never even met Trooper Miller turned out in droves to pay their respects.

Many communities also lined the streets with American flags in tribute.

That procession also passed through Tunkhannock. Early in his career Trooper Miller was a patrol officer in the borough.

People lined Route 6 today. Many waited for hours to pay their respects. Local fire departments formed a ladder arch, draping an American flag in honor as Miller passed the State Police barracks in Tunkhannock.

Dick Babcock said, “He didn't know these people he was helping out, he heard somebody needed his help to rescue a 9-year-old boy."

Ashlee Burridge added, "He was a very brave man to put his life on the line out there…”

While most of these people never knew Trooper Miller many of them felt compelled to say thank you for his sacrifice and pay respect to his memory.
