There's an investigation underway at the Wyoming Valley Mall involving the theft of thousands of dollars in jewelry. It happened one week ago today, but mall managers and police aren't saying much.

Wyoming Valley Mall Managers had no comment to Eyewitness news about the $20,000.00 dollars in jewelry that was stolen from a kiosk. In fact our cameras weren't even allowed on mall property. But officials with the jewelry store Plumb Gold say the jewelry was stolen over the Fourth of July holiday.

It was one week ago today, Wilkes-Barre Township Police responded to a reported theft in broad daylight at the Wyoming Valley Mall. Cops confirm the call came in at 10:54 on the morning of July Fourth at the Plumb Gold Jewelry Store Kiosk. Dominic Buonsante owns Dino’s Pizza in the Mall, "Reporter Jill Konopka asks, “So, what did you hear was stolen? Buonsante replied, “20,000 in jewelry."

Officials with Plumb Gold, tell Eyewitness News, $20,000.00 in jewelry was indeed stolen. That's about all they'll say, Wilkes-Barre Township police have no comment other than to say the case is currently under investigation.

Buonsante added, "I was shocked it happened at 11 am in front of the CVS and CVS is always busy. There's always people walking in and out."

Dominic Buonsante owns an Italian Eatery, Dino's Pizza at the mall. He says he's concerned. Dominic Buonsante told Eyewitness News, "You know it's scary, thinking someone could break in, in the middle of the daylight time and steal." Buonsante tells Eyewitness News there have been other thefts at the mall before.

Buonsante stated, “Thefts of attendants, they turn around, grab and run." Plumb Gold officials are offering a $5,000.00 reward, plus 5-percent of whatever merchandise is recovered.
