WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- Fourth of July celebrations are winding down this hour, but that wasn't the case earlier Saturday in Wilkes-Barre.

The Northeastern Pennsylvania Philharmonic performed its traditional Independence Day concert at Kirby Park.

A huge crowd gathered to hear patriotic music and celebrate our nation's independence. Many people make Kirby Park an annual 4th of July destination.

Ed Dudick from Sugar Notch said, "It's about 15-years in a row now so. And this year is a little bit nicer because this time last year our son was in Afghanistan and this year he's home. It's a different feeling."

The crowd stayed around after the performance to witness fireworks that lit up the night sky. Thousands and thousands of people crowded into and around Kirby Park to be part of the 4th of July fun.
