SCOTT TWP., LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Thousands turned out to support a young man with an amazing story of survival. A horrible farming accident severed Kyle Miller’s leg. He was in an area with no cell phone service. So Miller climbed back onto his tractor and drove a half-mile to his house before passing out from loss of blood. Today the amputee talked about his future and he seems stronger than ever.

Miller played football at Lakeland High School. The 6’6“ 275-pound offensive lineman dominated. Then June 17th he lost his leg.

Kyle’s mother Diane said, “He's doing very well. He went to Hershey on Wednesday. He walked on his temporary leg. He has to go back in 2 weeks, for 7 to 10 days, and then he'll be home for good.”

Dianne says she is astonished by Kyle’s good spirits. She knew family and friends were throwing this benefit for Kyle but says she had no idea thousands of people would show up. Kyle was shocked, too. “I'm speechless. It's unbelievable, really unbelievable,” he said.

Kyle made his way around the event on a golf cart, but soon he will have a new leg. “I walked with it but it's a hydraulic, not computer chip. It's going to be geared for heavy weight because I'm a bigger guy. I plan on going back to work and carrying things,” he said.

All the money raised at the day long event at the Montdale Country Club Grove will help the family with Kyle's medical bills. And by the way things look, his recovery is off to a great start.

Kyle’s grandfather, Bob Keen, says he thanks everyone helping to get Kyle back on his feet. Kyle says he hopes to be walking on his new leg next month.
