POTTSVILLE, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY- A threatening letter forced the Schuylkill County Courthouse into lockdown. The courthouse in Pottsville was locked down for about 3 hours Wednesday.

Haz-mat teams entered the Schuylkill County Commissioners office to inspect a letter that appeared to contain a suspicious substance. And there were threatening words in that letter.

Schuylkill County EMA Director Art Kaplan said, "There was thought to be some substance in the envelope with text. It was decided that we needed to lock down the courthouse to isolate the area where the information was. We called in a Haz-mat team."

That team determined the substance posed no threat. But the text and some wiring in the envelope was a concern.

The courthouse was shut down from about 10:30 A. M. to 1:30 P. M. the FBI is now involved in the investigation and eyewitness news has learned that there have been other threats mailed to other buildings in the Pottsville area. However police are not commenting on those at this point.
