MOOSIC, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- The Scranton/ Wilkes-Barre Yankees are on the verge of a championship. They punched their ticket to the Governor's Cup Finals Sunday night with a dramatic extra-inning walk-off win. Some are even calling it the best game they've ever seen. But only 2,400 people were there to witness Sunday night's clinching game.

The Yankees are just 3 wins away from NEPA's first professional championship, but judging by the lines, or lack thereof, at the box office, no one seems to have noticed.

The few Yankees fans we did find say the attention on the “Bronx Bombers” should turn to the “Baby Bombers.”

Josh Kukobski of Tunkhannock said, "Obviously the Yankees this year ain't gonna do nothing so you gotta root for the little guys!"

And it's the little guys who are having big success - just not at the box office. Playoff tickets have always been a tough sell this time of year. SWB Yankees V. P. Jeremy Ruby said, "It's just the way it is right now with school, high school football, college football, NFL all kicking in it's tough to draw this time of year."

The phone wasn't exactly ringing off the hook for tickets Monday, but a few orders came in. Ralph Morris, Jr. made the trip from Wayne County. "We used to come up once or twice a year, but this is our first game for this year. And we're lucky because this is the playoffs,” he told Eyewitness News.

Some say the attendance would be better if they had a new stadium. “Of course I would. I'm kind of bias, I would love to see a new building… It kind of hurts when we visit Lehigh Valley and they have that beautiful place down there," said Ruby.

But others disagree. "New stadium? This is nice. When the Red Barons were here it didn't look as nice as this does," said Kukobski.

And NEPA's first pro championship in 20 years would make it even nicer.

Plenty of tickets are available for Tuesday night's Game 1 and Wednesday night’s Game 2. And the cost isn’t bad. $10 will get you a seat in the lower level.
