WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY -- The second Monday before Christmas is known as the busiest shipping day of the year. The U. S. Postal Service expects nearly 840 million cards, letters, and boxes to come through post offices nationwide -- and that's just for today.
The tough economy is playing a role in those numbers. Last year, more than 950 million pieces of mail were processed on this day.
The busiest delivery day will be Wednesday. All in all, the post office expects to deliver 16.6 billion pieces of mail between Thanksgiving and Christmas.
If you don't want to wait in line at the post office, you can go online to order priority mail flat-rate boxes. Postage and labels can be printed online, too. Just copy and paste the following link in your web browser: http://www. usps. com/ | |
