STROUD TWP., MONROE COUNTY- A tornado touched down in Monroe County early Wednesday afternoon causing significant damage and closing a number of roads.

Route 191 is closed from Route 611 to Cherry Valley Road. Also Middle Road and Blakeslee Road are closed in Stroud Township. Stoudsmoor Road is also closed and will likely stay closed into the weekend. The Stroudsmoor Country Inn was hard hit with the roof torn off of at least two buildings.

Also very hard hit was the Blakeslee family farm in Hamilton Township. A couple people there were taken to the hospital for minor injuries.

Stroud Area Regional Police say that they have gone door to door in the hard hit areas and have not found any more injuries.

They are asking anyone who needs help with shelter to contact the American Red Cross at (570) 476-3800.

Tree removal crews, Stroud Township road crews and PennDOT have teamed up to start the cleanup of roads in the affected areas.
