WILKES-BARRE, LUZERNE COUNTY- An elected official was in court Wednesday and earned his fate for stealing some $7,000 dollars in taxpayer money.

Ricky Whitebread of Black Creek Township admits to using a township credit card to pay for personal items including paving his driveway and patio supplies. Whitebread was sentenced to 4 and a half to 9 months house arrest. He has also paid restitution and apologized to taxpayers.

Investigators say this is a matter of the public trust. Whitebread also resigned his position as Township Supervisor.
