DUNMORE, LACKAWANNA COUNTY- Several blocks of the O'Neill Highway in Dunmore were closed for hours after a tractor trailer snagged an overhead cable.
Utility workers were busy Tuesday restringing electrical and other lines. It's all because an 18-wheeler snagged a low hanging cable after 9:00 A. M. long the usually busy highway.
Police had to direct traffic around the scene to allow crews to make repairs. A service station attendant was working nearby when the wires tumbled and the sparks flew. Billy Brown said, "It sounded like fireworks going off and I saw a truck just sitting there and steam coming off the top of the truck and, you know, I was just hoping everyone was okay. I took a swan dive!"
Police say the truck driver, Serafin Olmedo of Olyphant, wasn't hurt. Several area businesses had brief power outages just after the Lackawanna County accident.
