TREMONT, SCHUYLKILL COUNTY - Police say they found evidence Jason Frew ran a meth lab out of his home in Tremont. Frew said,"It was there. It doesn't necessarily mean it was mine."
Officers say Tanya Kock and Charles Kille were also involved. Kille denied it. He said,"This is the first time i was ever over at this place to meet this guy."
The meth lab bust forced several families to evacuate their homes on Laurel Street sunday morning. Police kept people away because meth supplies, like Anhydrous Ammonia, can be dangerous. Sergeant Jeff Futchko of the Port Carbon Police Department explained,"That could cause immediate death if it gets inhaled.
Many neighbors told Eyewitness News they knew this would happen. Brittni Shak remarked,"Honestly i'm not surprised."
Bonnie Ganly said,"You could see traffic coming up and in and out of there all the time." Randall Bain added,"I don't think they were just a lot of good friends coming to visit. I think there was obviously some illegal activity going on."
Police have been investigating the house for about five months. It was an early sunday morning traffic stop that gave them their final clues. Sergeant Futchko said,"They did a great job."
Pine Grove Borough Police stopped a woman for speeding. She seemed suspicious so they searched her car. Futchko continued,"[They] found stuff that was consistent with Methamphetamine production."
Police say the supplies and car belonged to the woman's boyfriend, Jason Frew. When officers showed up at his house he told them his former roommate had used the house to make meth in the past. He remarked,"I should have stopped it a long time ago when i knew it was going on and i never did."
But officers found evidence of a current meth operation. Neighbor Jessica Gulden reacted,"It's absolutely crazy but i'm glad they got it before anything serious happened like down in Pine Grove."
A meth lab fire destroyed five homes and damaged two others in Pine Grove in January.
Futchko said,"Luckily we stopped this one before anything like this happened in Tremont."
All three suspects will face preliminary hearings later this month.
